The Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu has recognized India Diabetes Research Foundation and Dr. A. Ramachandran’s Diabetes Hospitals for conducting POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN CLINICAL DIABETOLOGY under the distance education programme of the university with effect from 2010.
This is an intensive 2-year residency programme (full-time) including patient care, ward rounds, seminars, clinical care and research discussions. At the end of the 1st year an examination in Basic Medical Sciences & Clinical Medicine would be conducted and the Final Clinical and Theory Exam in Diabetology would be conducted at the end of 2nd year by the University.
Eligibility: MBBS Graduates - MCI Recognised.
Two batches have been enrolled. First batch will complete the programme by May 2012.
The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR University has recognized India Diabetes Research Foundation and Dr. A. Ramachandran’s Diabetes Hospitals for conducting one year Fellowship in Diabetology for medical postgraduates.
Eligibility: MD (General Medicine) - MCI Recognised.
At present, two PhD scholars are pursuing research under the UK-Indian Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI). The objective of the study is to test the feasibility of using IT methodology as a simple community –oriented prevention approach for mass communication and for motivating the study participants. Prof. A Ramachandran from Chennai and Prof. Desmond Johnston from Imperial College, UK, are the Principal Investigators. The study has been initiated in August 2009 and aims to yield important information on prevention methodology. The team has also tied up with various reputed centers abroad including the Universities in Oxford and Cambridge, UK to conduct multicentric, long term research studies on methodologies for management and prevention of diabetes and related complications.
